1990-1994年在中国人民大学新闻系新闻学专业学习，获得文学学士学位；1994-1997年任职中国新闻社记者；1997-2003年在德国波恩大学学习社会学、西方艺术史和计算机专业（本硕连读），获得三专业文科硕士学位；2003-2007年在德国波恩大学国际政治与社会学学院学习，获得波恩大学哲学博士学位。现为复旦大学国际问题研究院欧洲研究中心副教授。德国波恩欧洲一体化研究中心访问学者（2009），法国巴黎欧盟战略安全研究所访问学者（2010）。著有《经济自由与增长》（德文）、《世界军备的文化与安全因素》（德文）、《社会化的困境》（英文）、《美狄亚的愤怒——对欧洲政治、社会与艺术的沉思》等。

Liu Lirong is Associate Professor of European Studies at Fudan University in Shanghai. She holds a Ph.D. in sociology and an MA in sociology, computer science and history of art from the University of Bonn in Germany, as well as a BA in journalism from Renmin University of China. She worked as journalist at the China News Service from 1994 to 1997. She was Visiting Fellow at the European Union Institute for Security Studies in Paris from May to August 2010 and Visiting Researcher at the Center for European Integration Studies in Bonn from July to September 2009. Recent publications include Economic Freedom and Growth: an International Comparative Study (LIT Press, 2007, in German), Culture and National Security as Determinants of Why Nations Arm (Engelhardt-Ng Press, 2007, in German), The EU and China’s engagement in Africa: the dilemma of socialisation (EUISS, 2011, in English) and Medea’s Anger: the Change of Social Values in Europe (Tongji University Press, 2011, in Chinese).
She applies modern quantitative methods, i.e., multivariate statistics or econometric methods to the international studies. Current research focuses on two topics: the interplay between culture and political economy, China – EU relations.
