I am Wei Wang, a doctor candidate at Fudan university, Shanghai, China. I am 27 years old, and in the coming next year 2007 I shall graduate from the institute of genetics. My research mainly focuses on the PPI (protein-protein interaction) analysis by using both the experimental and computational methods. I am also lead of a research group of two graduates and three undergraduates. We enjoy working together in a critically thinking and friendly style, especially at the weekly seminar.

I was once motivated by Wessells & Hopson's words in their book," Genetic language and human language: two modes of communication." The left column is blanked by part of the whole genome sequence of a bacterial virus and the right column is blanked with the famous William Shakespeare's "To be, or not to be". They said,"  just as in the genetic language, the information in human language is contained in the order of letters within words, and words within sentences. Due to the precise way molecules join, however, genetic language is unambiguous, while human language has richness and subtlety of meaning."  These sentences has greatly aroused my curiosity of uncovering the truth of those mysteries inside the living bodies. And my passion in the literature also encourages me to be a poet in biological science. Doing experiments is definitely a certain kind of art.

I believe, at least, critical thinking is as important as doing experiments. Knowledge is not only available in labs but also in the around nature. Mathematic and computational methods are of great help to our understanding of the biological phenomena.

As it always says, one should not success without a team. I really appreciate the friendly cooperation with my copartners. Yes, research is the most exciting game to us now. We are in our golden twenties, no one can expect what will sparkle in the next "Sudden strike" of our young brains. The first publication is the reward of our innocent efforts.
